Primary school of Kaloneri-Mikrokastro is situated in both Kaloneri and Mikrokastro which are small villages in the area of western Macedonia, in the Perfecture of Kozani and near the town of Siatista.
In 2001 the two pre-existing schools in the two villages became one but there are still two different buildings consisting the school by housing different classes each!
This year there are 40 children attending the particular school that come mainly from a middle socio-economic background. A small number of children come from Albania since their parents came to Greece as immigrants some years ago.
14 qualified and experienced teachers guide the children out of the labyrinth of knowledge with enthusiasm and willingness despite the difficult working conditions (some of them come from nearby towns to teach or they move to more than one schools to do so).
The teachers in our school have an excellent cooperation sharing the same dream and target that is to create and sustain a school open to society, a democratic one, with humanitarian principles that cares for the pupils' best and that enlarges the educative results.
We aim to create a motivating and stimulating educational environment for our pupils and it's our common belief that the various programs enrich our daily practices by expanding the horizon of the everyday educational process!
Moreover , they create new perspectives for cooperation not only in Greece but in other countries as well which is very important for our area as it's a rural one with a limited number of chances for something different in the educational fields!
In our school, we participate in the e-twinning program and every year teachers and children work together accomplishing programs concerning the environment, health, cultural issues etc.
The key people for this program apart from the headmaster will be the English teacher, the PE teacher and the Computer teacher, all with a rich experience and willingness!
The truth is that we have no previous experience in programs such as Erasmus+ but we are eager to learn and transform the disadvantage into an advantage !
